Default Dead 1997 48V Club Car Regen1

Cart has been in local (small town) small engine repair shop for a month now. Owner has downloaded supposedly correct manual and tried test procedures with no luck. In desperation he hauled unit into city CC dealer where they tried tests with no luck. Somewhere on this forum I came across posts that said the '97 48V CC with Regen 1 was the worst cart ever built by Club Car and recommended conversion to an IQ system, whatever that is. For some reason, I now cannot find this post. I would like detailed recommendations re this conversion to pass on to my service guy.

Its not that complicated, you just need to get it to someone who knows what they are doing. Get it back home and we will help you out once it is back.

1997 was split year for Power Drive ( Regen 1 ) and later in year Power Drive PLUS ( Regen 2 ) so it would be good to have complete serial number to be sure what cart is being converted.
The Intelligent Quantum =( IQ ) is modern control used on all CC models since 2001 that has shown to be much more trouble free.

Serial # is A9739-608789 which means cart came off assembly line in 39th week of production in 1997. Some modifications have been made to this cart because the controller has a white case rather than the original black and there is only one solenoid. I have had this cart for 6 years and 3 days as of today and have had no problems other than installing new batteries last May. The modifications were made sometime before I bought this used cart.

I have no tools, testing equipment nor a heated shop which is essential here in Manitoba Canada at this time of year, therefore need to have local shop do repairs and/or conversion.

Might also help if you can read brand and model numbers off solid state controller now in cart, also what type of pedal speed control you have as there was 3-4 used in the 1995-1997 period and several are no longer available? Besides as you said it looks like controls have been changed already so unknown what has been used as replacements or if left original? Makes the difference between complete strip and replace to changes of less parts. To know what changes need to be made by whoever does work can help with accepting price quotes.

Controller is GE 48 V 220 amp installed in 2001 according to sticker placed by CC technician. Paper sticker has no readable model number but the following numbers were observed with possible errors: Catalogue 1C36453H4D222C5
Serial # SH4D0093859P. Paper sticker over another, rebuild???

Turns out my repair guy is the type who keeps replacing parts till he gets a fix!
So far it seems I have a new OBC and a MCOR kit replacing the old multi-step potentiometer $$$ and no results.

Because of the modifications in 2001 and during the last month, the step by step test procedures in the CC manual don't apply. Besides giving the repairman a swift kick, what's the next move?

Keep spending cash on the "parts changers" until they get it right

Sorry unable to find that controller in GE catalog by number but with 220 amp rating it sounds like stock replacement for a stock motor #102237801 3.20 HP? Being unable to get correct info may be some one else in forum can help with confirming what application it is?
With so many changes over a period of years and now its going to be very difficult to help with repairs as we would have to see each part and be able to check for correct wiring into system of each part. I'm pretty sure that replacement of OBC was an expensive guess that wont help your problem ( OBC basically in older models like yours only acts as a control of CHARGER not cart operation )
I know what you are going through as so often I ran across the same type of SUPPOSED MECHANICS? They are not mechanics just "parts replacers" with NO KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO TEST ANYTHING like most auto dealers are using today, of course at expense of owners?
With no place for you to work and no knowledge nor tools and with winter fast approching your only hope would be to possibly haul cart to a ANOTHER Club Car Dealer in another city that at least may have some qualified mechanics? I see no other way to get cart running unless as FIXEROFCARTS says allow this parts replacer GOOF UP to continue until he MAYBE gets right combo of parts?? It would be cheaper to haul to distant cities rather than continue as you are now?
Sorry but I see no other way to go for you?
