resistor coils red hot
washed off batteries and general area, 2 days later drove out of barn and it didn,nt want to stop. disconnected 2 batteries, coils cooled off, with key off still wanred to go if batteries hooked up, forward-reverse switch really throws sparks when shifting, help.

I am not a sparkler guy but it sounds as if you
have a solenoid locked in or water in a micro switch. |

It takes a combination of problems to get this effect .... One is the solenoid is ether fried shut (continuity all the time) or the solenoid activation circuit is hot all the time (same result).
Two is the old speed wiper switch is not coming all the way back to zero.... |
