Default How do I test the controller?

I need some help BAD!!! We bought a 1997 Club Car Electric 48 volt NOT running -- I know, I know... bad idea to start with. Anyways, it looks like the people tried to upgrade it at some point cause it has a 2007 motor. We got the wiring diagrams and parts we needed but it still doesn't work. My question now is how do I test the controller? It looks like there is some kind of melted spot on it so I am pretty sure that is bad. How do I test the computer on it too? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The closest repair shop is 2 hours away and I can't afford to pay them an arm and a leg. HELP!!!!!!

I'm by no means an expert. I'm in the same boat as you. What I've done so far is.

Test batteries under load individually. Verify they are good.
Jump solenoid to see if cart runs to test the solenoid out.
From there I tested the motor directly to the battery while jumping a couple of the terminals. Look up your motor type. Mine was a series motor so I followed that procedure.

I just put my new controller in yesterday and I need one more wire today as I had to rewire it. I think the previous owner didn't do it right but so far I haven't got any advice on here when I posted it. I'm not familiar on the computer to test it but if you know your controller, there is ways to test it using a meter.

You didnt specify which model you have so I will give you sourse for both Series controller and Regen controllers. Curtis was original equipment manufacturers during that period so I will guide you to there manual site. Any others you would have to go to that brand site.
Series ( F&R lever under right leg )
http://www.curtisinst.com/index.cfm?...204%5f05%2epdf starting on page 25

Regen ( rocker type switch under right leg )
http://www.curtisinstruments.com/?**...tegory&cat1D=9
staring on page 46

Hope this helps you solve your problem.
