Default Are all Club Car keys the same?

I have a 1998 Club car without a key. I ordered a key for it off ebay. Are all club car keys the same? Also...I would like to get it running before waiting on the key. How can I hotwire the cart?

I think 96 and up are the same key. I'm not sure how far back the 95 and down go?? Dont know how to hot wire it??

You could look up a Club Car dealer in your area and buy one from them or look for a golf course close by that uses 96 and up CC's and offer them a couple bucks for a key........If it were me, I would do the latter.

Good luck

Have a 95 and 97 same key, to hot wire would put a toggle switch in place of switch. One wire in one wire out.

For many years in our park many walkers would carry a key for Club Car, and that way when they get tired they just take nearest cart and call owner to let them know where cart is located? Finally after several handicaped owners got mad enough the practise stopped?
Seems as though alot of Ezgo's are the same key also years and models unknown?

All Club Cars and Ezgos take but 1 key Yamaha takes 1 of 2. There are individual key switches available but their existence is rare

I don't know when or how it happened but one day I noticed I could just turn my key switch on in my 01 CC DS and I could pull the key out in the on position and the cart would still operate. Then I noticed that I could use almost anything that would fit to turn the key switch on or off. Not sure if something broke in there or what but that's how it was when I sold it. Most of the carts in my neighborhood are CC's but I have the only Precedent and the only electric cart. So, I haven't tried any other keys on my new cart. But we've all been known to borrow each others keys now and again and they always worked no matter which CC we put them in. I'd say they range in year models here from 98 to 03 maybe. Of course, mine was no true test because the switch could be set with almost anything. But others have borrowed the key to my old DS and it worked in their cart just fine.

As for temporarily "hotwiring", just pull the wires off either side of the switch and connect them together.
