I'm fixing up my 91 CC resistor cart for my son

He wants a rear seat, I think this is a bad idea! Due to the fact this cart has more potential overheating problems because there's no controller to shut the cart down and I can see him melting wires or the v-glide because he's at slow speeds with all his buddies on board. Is my logic sound? I have separatd the wires off the coil as best I could....they do get very hot laying on top of each other, but it is difficult with this setup to spread the cables as I would like to. I think it's going to stay a 2 seater unless I do a complete solid state conversion.

I agree 100% bad idea ( IDEA and its true ) Just tell him that if you add seat for more passengers you will have to replace all 3 springs as well with HD and costs will be very high and unless he is willing to pay for them out of ( his earned money ) you cannot afford them and seat too? ( EXAMPLE Buggies price with shipping $259.98 plus labor )

I sure hope your son knows how much fine work you are doing and will not damage it? If he had shared in the work you would possibly have more pride and be more careful when running with his friends? I was never able to get my only son to appreciate anything mechanical he thought of them only as some thing to mess around with and destroy? Even today in his mid 50s he thinks a auto is a battering ram and ditch jumper?

I intially bought the cart as a project/investment. I was soon persuaded by my wife and his nana...my son is only 9, to keep the cart for him to grow into. I have so little $ in the cart, it did not take much effort on their part. After all, I would learn how to paint(hopefully), make it a father/son project. He and his 7 year old sister have helped with picking out the colors, sanding the bondo/primer and cleaning the cart repeatedly. My son wants to paint....but I'm not handing over a paint gun to him. lol. They are good kids and drive the other carts quite frequently. My wife, myself, and our 3 children and their Nana live on 5 acres....so we have a little room for golf carts, a necessity really! I'm painting it a metallic blue and I'm going to keep it topless with a homemade "shorty" windshield and no backseat
I'll keep my amatuer pics.coming if you really want to see'em. Thanks for the encouragement The following pics. may explain why he's due a cart. lol.
