How to change a brake cable on a Precedent IQ
I need some instructions on how I can get the cable end loose under the driver where it comes through the chassis and has a little round steel thing holding the outer cable. Also the best price for parts, I need a driver side cable.

Re: How to change a brake cable on a Precedent IQ
Walt,
I have two brand new cables that I cannot use for the precedent. Bought the cables and then converted my system to disc brakes. Let me know if your interested..............I will make you a great deal........they are just giving my wife another example of purchases for the cart that were unneccesary ...... OT |

Sure OT but I only need the driver side, would buy both but selling the cart as soon as fixed, give me a price with ship. Do you have any info on how to get the cables loose where it attaches under the driver?

Re: How to change a brake cable on a Precedent IQ
I cut my old cables off with a Dremel............hehehehe, probably not the best way to do it..............but it was effective and quick for me!!
I would sell both cables to you for $50. I will admit, you can buy one cable from a local sponsor for less than that.............. If you are still interested, PM me. OT |

I just bought my first Precedent (07) and realized one of the cables has a broken tip (the one that goes to the equalizer)... on the other hand; would you recommend some sort of cleaning / adjustment to the brakes at the time of replacing the cable? |

Re: How to change a brake cable on a Precedent IQ
I just replaced both my cables on my lifted Precedent and got both cables for the passenger side since they are longer. My original driver cable was too short for the lift, (had it on for over a year and caused pulsation and brake locking.) I also purchased the Brake Cable Tool for super easy removal of the old cables, (it fits inside where both cables are connected as well as at the drums... push it on and the cables come out 123!) You can ask Tahoedawg about the benefits of changing both for Passenger side cables as well as the brake tool benefit. Based on his help and suggestions it allowed me to correct a problem I had since I purchased this cart with a lift on it! If you ever plan on lifting your cart or if it's lifted already... do yourself a favor and make this change
If you're going to go with disc brakes, (ScottyB sells them... Ausco rear disc brakes,) they'll come with brake extenders to eliminate brake pulsation/locking problems as well. That was my next choice if this didn't work and/or if I change-out the motor I have for a Special Motor & System change-out from PlumQuick that should take my cart to the near 40 mph mark. |
