Brake lights turn on with ignition off
What would be the best way to wire the brake lights to keep them from turning on with the ignition key in off position. When i press brake pedal they turn on unlike my buddys EZgo. Would a disconnect battery switch be the way to go (Im thinking maybe light connection to battery will bypass the Disconnect switch). Dunno

Wire through your solenoid for your switch.

Re: Brake lights turn on with ignition off
sorry im am more mechanical then electrical if that. I have the CC lights with the power coming from the OEM blue cable on the passenger side battery. Do you recommend me running that blue cable thru the solenoid?
thanks Fishing Dude. |

Re: Brake lights turn on with ignition off
Sorry need a Voltage reducer to reduce voltage from battery pack to 12 or a relay circuit to do this.

Re: Brake lights turn on with ignition off
Go to big box automotive retailer and buy a $5.00 40 amp 4 pin relay. Take a multimeter to your key switch and find out which wire only has power when the cart is able to run. Splice into that wire with scotch locks and run that wire to pin 86 on relay. Then run 12v battery hook up to pin 30 and put fuse in between. Brake light switch goes to pin 87 and pin 85 goes to battery 12v ground. It sounds alot harder than what it is plus you can power other components off the same relay. If you don't have a multimeter you can pick up a cheap one for arout $6.00 at the same store. This is what I did and it works great.

Re: Brake lights turn on with ignition off
Thx so much, Im sure it would work as you kindly explained. Just trying to make sense of it and translate into a mental diagram. Kinda late and having some brain hiccups. Will try hookup tomorrow.
thx again |
