Default Good price on used batteries?

I have found some 2 year old, 2008 Trojan 875's (8v) and wanted to know if $300 for 6 was a pretty good deal or just average going price?

The owner is doing some upgrades at the local cart shop and new I was looking to convert my cart to 48v.

I felt like it was a pretty good deal but wanted to hear what you guys thought. Should I make him an offer?

Thanks,

Robert

Are you kidding me? $300. That is the best price I have ever seen for those batteries. Are you sure it's legit? If you are converting your cart to 48v, you will need a lot more than batteries!

As long as the batteries work (of course) I would go for it in a New York minute! Take advantage of that because I doubt you will ever find that kind of deal again! May I ask his company name? Feel free to PM me.

I almost forgot:

I would certainly go for it at $50 apiece! You might want to do a load test on them first, just to be sure.

I wish I could find a deal like that around here!

Keep us posted on your conversion progress.

Well this is the way I look at it, Your paying $50 a battery, for batteries that are around 3 years old, and you don't know how they were cared for, how many times were they run down below- 50% charge?- and WAS the water levels taken care of all the time?, or were they run low on water?, or charged with low water?, who knows?, Now for $300 you are taking a big chance, if they will last 2 or 3 more years?? to get your moneys worth?? they would have to last 3 more years,? your only getting what you payed for, IF they last 3 more years, I don't see no great deal your getting here, Ok now new batteries are $110 a piece, and they say, you should get around 6 years out of them, if you take good care of them, and if you buy them new you know what you are getting, as to the used batteries that you are paying the same price for, at $50 a battery for 3 year old batteries, and taking a big chance,. I DON'T see NO savings here--or $110 a battery for 6 years,--Unless you are just trying to sell this cart, and let someone else worry about the used batteries, and your NOT keeping the cart, this is the only way you are saving money.. Just my 2 cent--

I totally agree! How you break in new batteries and maintain them determines their useful life. In this case that is an unknown.

This is all true guys but if you are a gambling man, 2 yr old batteries at less than 1/2 the original price might work out.... half the cost for half the use.... might be a fair deal if the S/G is good in every cell. Also check the water color. Any dirty water indicates abuse at that age.... good luck.
