Default Curtis Controller Components

Hello everyone, I have a bad Curtis controller 1204-410. i disassembled it and found a burnt transistor on the logic board. I can't read the numbers on the transistor because it is burnt. Does anyone have a schematic of this controller or knowledge of what this part is. It looks the same as the transistors on the power board that are screwed to the heat sink. It sits in a small heat sink on the logic board.

Got pics? Sounds like its the voltage regulator. Thats the only thing I know of on the control board that is heat sinked.

Its an LM317 adjustable voltage regulator. Couple bucks. (if it's what I'm thinking) If you know how you can get free samples.

Thanks Roady, what are the values, 48 to 12? I think Radio shack has these.

Actually, its less than a dollar. $0.65 at digikey for a Fairchild. I'm not sure if rat shack has those. I think I've looked before and all they had was 12VDC's and 5VDC regulators. It's not a "48 to 12" regulator. Should be a TO220 package.

Heres the datasheet. http://www.fairchildsemi.com/ds/LM/LM317.pdf

Mouser, digikey and Allied Electric will have em.

Roady do you think or know if this is the only part differance between 1204 XXX 36v and a 48v controller. Or is this a gross over simplification.

Oh no, theres a big difference between the 2. You can't convert a 36 volt to a 48 if thats what your asking. (not easily or cheaply) You would have to redesign the control board. Replacing the fets and diodes with higher voltage parts is the easy part, its driving them thats a problem. I've done quite a bit of research into exactly that. It's not that easy or economical.

Found it at skycraft electronics. Repalced it and it blew again, guess i need a new controller. Anyone have one at a reasonable price? This is a 225 amp, I would consider a higher amp if the price is right.
