Made in China Solenoids are not all Junk. Some are very dependable units with silver plated contacts.... Sold and used by the industry giants ... I have not had one failure of a properly matched up aftermarket solenoid. I think it is time to let go of this gripe...
Next you will be telling us the foreign cars are no good?

SCOTTYB-- I'm open to finding any good quality electrics made in "China" do you have any solenoid brand recommendations for me that you would be willing to stand behind as having done a normal good job for you? Maybe the newer units are better, BUT I have to call them the way I see them and at least in the last 2 years I DONT SEE QUALITY? When properly chosen for application parts only last 2-6 months this is what I'm talking about. EXAMPLE neighbor ended up making 4 trips to different cart shop getting ( 3 ) different brands of Chinese solenoids before he found one that would work ( even when brand new?? ) right out of the box? Is it luck that one finally worked and how long will it last?? You can see why I have my doubts about recomending them?

I am buying the best my suppliers have to offer. Much of it is carrying the sellers name. Made for them in China.
The suppliers I am talking about do not sell to the public.
There are obviously good and bad imports.

Some carry the MZ-J-200D marking
I doubt you are finding these at your local golf cart shop unless they are into performance modifications.

Does anyone have a picture of what the sw180 should look like when wired up to a yamaha drive?

The Albright solenoids can be sealed depends which one you buy the sealed ones have magnets built in them to pull the magnetic particals away from the contacts most of them will have a positive on the top big studs then on the side they have two spade terminals most have diode soldered in the stripe on diode goes to positive then other end is negative

I would agree that is a valid statement. Name brand parts manufactured in China are generally better. The company selling them would go broke on warranties alone. However, OEM parts simply made in China and sold on-line are typically junk. I recently installed a $19.99 36v solenoid ordered on Amazon and then watched my forward reverse switch go up in flames. Sent it back for another. Learned my lesson and checked the leads with a multimeter. Sure enough I got an ohm reading . Should have been 0. Sent it back for another. The last one tested normal. Installed it and itís working, but obviously I have my concerns.

Alltrax recommends aka requires a 200 amp solenoid (switching capacity) for the 400a controller and a 400a solenoid for the 500 and up controls.
A good 200 amp SW180 can be made in UK or China. Good quality units are outfitted with magnetic breakout which extends the life of the contacts.
Our SW180 solenoid has a peak capacity of 800 amps. The failure rate on this unit is almost non-existent (less than 1%)
Our MZJ400 solenoid is a 2 stage coil 400 amp continuous 1000 amp peak unit designed to run on 36 or 48 volts. Due to it's large heavy silver plated contacts and 2 stage coil it is a favorite among owners who are running 36v now and 48v later or anybody looking for the most durable solenoid available at a fair price.
