Default Battery (and other) dealer in Upstate SC or surrounding area?

Can someone recommend some places to go?

I probably need a set of 8 Volt's and might even be thinking of upgrading the controller. Need hill climbing and am losing it. The set of Trojans I have in there are from 06 but I have no idea how well they were cared for and they are losing their ability to climb hills over the 6 months or so I have had it. So I think I need a new set of batteries. All I see at Sams are the Johnson Controls so I am looking elsewhere for now.

And I might want to find a good Tech and place to do upgrades too. I don't mind traveling a bit for the right guy/gal/shop. I am in Anderson/Clemson SC area. This can include upper NW Georgia and even as far as Augusta area too.

Shows him one Hour and 44 minutes.

David,

as a reference point we are dealing with what I believe to be a 2003 Club Car DS IQ Serial number AQ0342-338812

It has Trojan 8V batteries from 06 that, when I got it appeared well kept and clean and good fluid levels. And I have kept it as such but they have faded some over that time in power particularly hill climbing with a couple of people on. Slowing down to a crawl and one time, on a very long slow steady climb I had a heat overload click out. It cooled down and then went on its merry... slow... way and has not done that again but I have avoided that particular route. Since then its gotten slower and slower on hills. The Cart seems to go on and on for a long time with good even power on the level and slight hilly grounds. I never run it more than perhaps 15 to 20 or so minutes and always charge after. Fluids have never been very low when checked and when any has been added by me I have always used Deionized Distilled Water only. In fact keep it on the charger all the time. Charger acts normal going through its initial test mode then going back onto charge and charges fully and cuts off like it should. Cart operates as normal except for hill climbing ability is fading.

I see good voltage at rest after charge and letting cool down but have no good way to load test them.

The cables look pretty good and are marked 4 AGW. They may or may not be OE. I have not had the cart but perhaps 6 months. I have cleaned them myself once when I first got it and they have, so far, stayed clean. No excessive corrosion coming off them but some Copper areas are bare and shinny Silver from what must have been PO cleanings. I coated them with the Red battery Cable protector after cleaning and reattaching them the one time I did them.

The Cart is stored inside.

The only accessories on the cart so far are a very recently added (but well after the cart started showing its poor hill climbing performance) 25 AMP 12V regulator under the seat and a set of Lights (typical Kit set with simple switch installed by me) and a fold up rear seat/platform. Those are working fine but are rarely used.

Stock Wheels and I assume everything else is stock.

Can't wait to see it... We'll perform a battery test procedure first of all to determine the status of your batteries. We'll then charge it up and drive the vehicle while plugged into the IQ Diagnostic Machine to read any fault codes. I'm thinking you may have a little wear issue on your pedal linkage under the floormat. If this is the case, you're actually not giving the car full throttle, resulting in decreased climbing power. We'll figure it out though. Don't worry about it. I'm sure it's a simple issue.

Interesting you should say that. When I got it, it had a broken brake lever fitting. Or should I say crudely fixed one. It was that last piece thats threaded on to the end that then snaps on (Ball and socket sort of) to the throttle lever. It kept coming undone as the threads were worn off and stripped. I finally had to epoxy it to the shaft of the thread and had to be careful to get it the right length when I did so. There is no way for me to be certain I did achieve that but it appeared to be fine. However... I think it was slowing down before I finally fixed that but it has slowed down even more since then. That has always been a issue as the shaft itself seemed to lack threads and the fitting had cracked a bit too so it would never stay tight. I had to finally epoxy that thing to the shaft where and how long is was were it would release but still throttle correctly. I could have simply not gotten it right. Thats why I wanted to come to someone who could and would know. So I spend the money on whats needed and not simply throw parts at it.

When I get caught up here... perhaps next week.. I am going to call you and see if we can arrange a time when your not slammed so I can come down early and spend the day or part of the day. Make an appointment so to speak! LOL...

I got my RV in the shop right now so I need to wait until that comes out then get a chance to come down to see you. David, you set up to accept Visa cards when I come?

I'd love to be able to get it back to you the same day but there simply isn't a time when we're not slammed. I'd try to make an exception for your case but the battery test procedure takes 2 days alone to charge, discharge, charge again, and drive and repair the vehicle. We are setup to take any major credit card. We're one of the largest Club Car dealers in the U.S. and we're right in Club Car's back yard... We'll do you right.
