Fender flares for a pre '93 DS ('87)
I been looking around for goodies to put on my '87 CC,and when it comes to fender flares, the only ones i find are for carts '93 and after. Ya know pre-lift and wheels-tires
Does anyone know if there are any known fittable flares for mine, or if that ones made for the '93's and newer can be fitted/altered to work on mine? I'd have no problem with a lil bit of cutting/trimming/altering the '93+ ones, if it was something that could be done. Thanks! |

Re: Fender flares for a pre '93 DS ('87)
I think it is because some of the older carts have small fender flares in the rear from the factory that probably have to be removed. I don't think the DS body ever changed.

Re: Fender flares for a pre '93 DS ('87)
I am in the same boat. I have a 92 DS that has the rubber fenders on the rear. If you take these off, the body is straight and does not flair like the 93 and up body style does. The front should fit fine, just the rear fender is the issue.
Just recieved them tonight and they have a bevel on the rear fender where the plastic bolt goes thru to match up to the flair on the 93 and up carts. However, I am thinking it will hold just as strong by putting a screw in thru the flat part of the fender into the body. I was also considering bending a small L bracket to fit the angle and use this to attach the fender. I will post some picts when I am done and let you know how it turns out! Robert |

Re: Fender flares for a pre '93 DS ('87)
Anyone familiar with CC DS bodies from '87 to current ('93 up) and think if i was to get the '93 and up flares, if i would be able to use them?
I'm way able to tweek/alter stuff to fit if need be,and since this looks like my only option for flares i just want to make sure I have a fighting chance on making them work on my '87. I have the lil rear flares, and just kinda want to know if i remove them will i be able to somehow make them fit (and look 1/2 decent) with the remaining lip after the stock flares are off. And on the fronts, does anyone think i can make them fit/look ok on my '87 even if i have to cut/trim /whatever to get them to line up/fasten on the front? Thanks |

If you really can make a few adjustments here and there and not be Mr Perfect, then Just Do It!!, it will work out fine. And you can show everyone how great they look. I put the same one's on my 94 Yamaha, bend, tweak cut a little with the Dremel and "custom" fit.

Same thing was the case when i wanted factory mudflaps/splashguards(whatever they are called nowadays) for my '08 Chev HHR SS. GM said they did not make any for a SS (The SS has side skirts/panels unlike the run o da mill HHRs) Got 'em anyway and had to trim/dremel what was needed to clear the skirting and still look OEM,, and they did So if a lil tweeking is all that is needed, then i'll give em a shot. Just wanted to confirm with the brain trusts here that the b4 '93 bodies are the same or close enuf as my '87 to bite the bullet and give 'em a try. "Tween being a GM trained mech for a while in the ol days and a Industrial Elect.Tech for the last 32+ yrs, and adding lots of making stuff work and/or fit most of my life, i think i can handle a lil working over some flares if it's nothing of a "Hell no, it'll never work/fit" kinda thing. And for sure, i'll show pics and details of how i did what i'll end up doing to make em fit like they belong . rgecy/Robert, you get yours installed yet? If so , ya got pics to share? |
