Default DS Club Car Specs

Buying a 2005 DS and need to know the stock electric motor HP and expected speed, using after market 225x12 in. wheels (or rated speed with stock wheels). Thanks!

I believe it's 3.1 HP and a whopping 12-13 mph. Normal cart speed.

Also depends on what speed code it is set on. Code 4 will get you up around 20mph. If you get it and later want some more speed, pop off the motor and send it to plum quick!

DS doesn't have option codes I do believe. Only the Precedent.

12-15mph? OMG! What a dog! I checked the PQ website and the Bandit looks interesting. Question: Will the stock controller, solenoid, wiring, etc. work with this upgrade? I think the stock controller may be 225 A, but can't seem to verify this.

Yea, its made for a golf coarse. Give PQ a call, ask for Robby. Tell him what you got. Keep in mind without upgrading other components you can't expect a speed demon.

I have a 2000 CC DS. I am getting about 10MPH with stock components. I am beginning the upgrade on mine, but I am starting with the controler, wires, solenoid, and HD f&r switch. Next motor, then lift kit, etc. If you go motor first it is like trying to suck a golf ball through a garden hose (the motor wants more amps the battery pack has the amps but the rest of the system can't deliver it). When I get to the motor I'm going to look at PQ. They seem to have a great reputation for quality and customer service. My controler, solenoid, and HD f&r switch come today so the project starts this weekend

I talked to PQ and Robby wasn't in, so someone else helped me...seemed very knowledgeable. He tells me I can use everything stock and just put in the new Bandit motor and I should see about 5 mph improvement. Reason is...they simply go into the motor and make it a more efficient power unit, so he says the increased amperage flow isn't as necessary unless I really want a larger speed enhancement. Without spending a lot more coin, I'm hoping that will do me...time will tell?

Nope not correct, 2002 and newer DS Carts can be IQ. Any IQ cart has the same programmable controller that has speed code settings.
