Should I sell and re-buy another one??

I don't know where else to ask this. I have an older 93' CC (36volt VGlide)that I just bought that has a nice custom paint job but had/has other issues. There is no roof, I had to repair the motor, (it works now). Also the batteries are going south. My plan right now is to buy a set of 8 volt trojans and go solid state on the electronics, and finally get a plum quick upgrade to my 36 volt motor. It should be a nice quick cart then BUT I will be looking for a roof and the steering has some serious slack that will likely involve work and parts. Part of me is thinking of just selling this one and getting a mid 2000's EZGO I seen for sale. It will likely need batteries too BUT it has a roof and will be much newer than mine. My only concern is that I find out later that older CC may be better to upgrade work on for some reason such as they come with 36volt series motors, they have aluminum frame, etc.

Any opinions are welcomed.....

I would convert to a 48V series cart! I like CC better than ezgo(sorry Scottyb) but that is just my opinion.

If I keep it I will definitly convert to 48 volts and use an Alltrax controller with a plumquick motor.

The roof and supports are available. All the new style (2002) DS stuff bolts onto your cart you could find new style supports & roof and put them on it ... same is true for the one piece seat back. The Aluminum frame cart is lighter which plays into the weight to hp ratio. There is a lot more aftermarket stuff available for the Ezgo and it rides nicer.... but they are all fun. I own both.... Sounds like a personal choice. CC used the same rack & pinion steering assembly for 20 years. Virtually all the DS carts took the same steering assembly. I agree with scottyb both ezgo and CC are great carts. I went CC because of the aluminum frame (less weight, will not rust). A stock cart is only going to do about 15MPH. Since you said you would go Alltrax/PQ on the existing cart I am assuming you want more speed and would do the same on the ezgo. Either way you are going to spend nearly 1000 on batteries, unless the ezgo has fresh batteries. It looks to me like the question is what can you get the ezgo for? If it is less than the top and steering repair on yours then that may be the way to go. If it has fresh batteries it probably is definitely the way to go. Just my Opinion

One other thing to keep in mind, when you see a used cart for sale you also have to ask what problems are they pushing off to you! New batteries for either cart will be $700 bucks.Find out all the parts you need to convert your cart and price them. Then look at the EZGO, drive it, check out the batteries, age, state of charge, load test. Check for rust especially in the battery bay. Then figure out what you need for it and price that stuff.

I guess it all depends on what outcome you want to have. Sounds like you are going to upgrade either cart so you have to take the upgrade money out of the equation. I took a junk Marathon and built a bad a$$ cart. It was my first one and I'm pretty tickled with it. I had no clue what I was doing and with this group and searching and reading everything I could on upgrading a cart, I have what I have today. Because I'm a tinkerer, I would keep the CC and start a build on it. You already have it. You will know what you have at the end instead of buying somebody elses problems. Also how bad of a hit are you going to take trying to sell a cart that needs work. Carts are not a easy mover nowadays to sell. The choice is yours and you know your situation. All I'm saying is you can find the parts your missing and need so.......
