What I found out about Trojan?
After what I just found out, I'm going to load test my entire pack then load test each battery individually just to make sure. Just found out that in 07, Trojan batteries put in left over/ recycled batteries in 07/08 Club Cars for some reason (these are the black top 12v batteries in some of our 07/08 CC's which of course, I have). This cost CC a ton of money in warranty and recall issues since those black top batteries could not hold up charge especially under load and causing all other sorts of problems. CC as a payback it seems then decided to stick it to them by going with Crown and US Batteries regardless of Trojans intent to thereafter lower their prices in attempt to win back CC's business. Because of this experience with Trojan, they decided to diversify to these 2 companies eventually going to one battery company after a trail year. Now, I find out that Crown and US Batteries are having some of their own issues due to thin/thinning plates in their batteries. Apparently their is talk that CC will be going back to Trojan. This whole ordeal is one of the reasons why CC is going back to the 8v 6battery application. I was also told that I am very lucky to have had those batteries for so long and even reach speeds of 24 mph. Even though I should be at 25-26 with my new purple. This particular company has also experienced, at hand, an enormous amount of clients coming to them with these recycled black top Trojan Batteries not holding up. Most of them were under 3 months old. Who would of thought? That explains why the abrupt change to Crown/US all of a sudden. This cost Trojan a major client, lets see what happens. Apparently, other then this downfall and poor strategy decision by Trojan, and those black top batteries, it seems that they are the best battery out there.
PS. please do not kill the messenger, that's all I am. But the source that I got this info from, extremely legit, trust me. |

Re: What I found out about Trojan?
I have a thread talking about battery problems in our 2008 EZ Go RXV fleet. They are Trojan 12-volts.

Re: What I found out about Trojan?
I think you will find that any 12 volt battery built for carts has same problem because there is only just so much room allowed inside case for plates and they all do thin with age and use? Care to let us know who this legit sourse is?? Maybe the same person that started the story that Club Car had bought out all rights to Ezgo and Yamaha and were shutting both factorys down and producing one cart called "CLUBEZEHAHA"??

Re: What I found out about Trojan?
I talked to the owner of the cart shop by my house the other day. He said the same thing about trojan batteries. He has a huge pile of them that went bad with in a few months of being installed. He has since switched to interstate workhorse batteries. I know a few guys that work for interstate, and that is the only battery that i will use. If there is a problem, they fix it and fix it fast.

Re: What I found out about Trojan?
Blake- I'm not sure Oldmec is gonna agree with you about the interstate batteries being the greatest with his experiences. I've used them for years on my boat and have had no problems at all. But Oldmec does have lots of experience with them in the golf cart arena and its not positive, therefore, I'd take his advice and keep away from them. Personally, I like Trojan.

Re: What I found out about Trojan?
I can't really tell you where I got this information from Oldmec bc this person IS for Trojan batteries. I'm sure you know as a successful mechanic with your own shop that this would be a conflict of interest for him so Id rather not say. Matter a fact, I'm probably going to need new batteries. I was inclined towards going with US Batteries but after talking to him, going with Trojan's. But I promise you, whether you believe it or not, that the person it came from is a super reliable source. And no, its not the guy with the "CLUBEZAHANNA" story
Just keep away from black top Tojans! |

Re: What I found out about Trojan?
I got what your saying. The cart shop down the street has around 60 trojans sitting there that are bad that came out of cc's. In fact. Non of the cart shops here use them any more. Everyone went to interstate. But, interstate has a shop here. Customer service is outstanding from them.
