Question F & R switch sparking when engaged

Last night I noticed a noise and or clicking under the seat at a standstill. Put the cart in N and it stopped. Put the switch in F and felt it try to move forward. The same with R. Went back to the barn to see if maybe the go pedal needed adjustment. Once the seat was off I noticed major sparks when moving switch to F. The spark looked almost like a welding arc. And smoke. Is my F&R switch going out? I have a spare I will put in this am to see. What else could be doing this? I have the wiring diagrams but I am no electrician by any means. I do have a voltage meter If there are some voltages I need to check/look for. I hope somebody out there has an idea or suggestion. Thanks.

If it is a 36v cart just replace the switch. If it is 48v buy a new HD switch.

Sounds to me like a bad solenoid.

Alright, changed out switch, same thing . Looks like I'm trying to weld with the switch. Solenoid bad? Can I test it and how? What should I see with the meter? Thanks
Forgot to mention that all this goes on with the key off or on.

It's a solenoid. No need for testing. It's stuck in the closed position. I see it all the time.

lightly tap on the outside of the solenoid with the plastic back of a screw driver. This usually frees it up.

Changed out the solenoid. Running again. That might have been the cause of another problem we were having. Thanks for the input fellas. I knew I would get pointed in the right direction here.

@#**^& solenoid sticking again! Could the key switch be bad, cause it's doing it with the swich off or on? Gonna look at the schematics again to see if something is wired wrong. looked at the drawings and noticed one wire from the key switch going to a battery instead of the charge plug. ???????
