Wiring lights on CC Precedent
I am trying to wire up some lights for my gpa on his cart. He bought a cheaply made light set and things aren't going that great.
I need to know, which wires are which, for the tail lights, because the tail lights included in his kit doesn't have a harness that plugs nicely in, but it has three separate wires that have to be plugged in. I think that the factory wires are brown, yellow, and black w/ white stripe, (I think)... Any help or advise on these lights would be appreciated. P.S. I am sure I will have more questions that follow... |

Re: Wiring lights on CC Precedent
If it's a light kit for a Precedent it should have the correct plugs to connect to power, lights, etc. If it's a Mickey Mouse kit I'd return it before you start to splice/slice into the wiring under the dash as well as the wires in the back and purchase from one of the vendors listed here on BGW the RIGHT kit for the job

Re: Wiring lights on CC Precedent
Well that's too late, I guess he got a good deal and I'm not going to tell him to buy another kit, he's not made out of money, it he was he would have bought it from a vendor and just had them do the install.
I am still looking for someone that knows which wires are which, in the factory tail. Which is the ground, and what are the other two? Thanks for the help in advance. |

Re: Wiring lights on CC Precedent
I'd really like to help as simple as it seems but my rear lights are sealed. Maybe you can call the manufacturer tomorrow. Hopefully somebody here can let u know. Not sure what kit you have but here's a pretty cool website which helped me out with some installs. It good to have as a reference. Good luck man!

Re: Wiring lights on CC Precedent
It was just head and taillights. It came with a wiring harness and I have already wired everything and it taps into the pre-existing wires on the cart. The pre-exisint wires have a harness with three wires and the tail lights also have three wires. However the wires on the cart are yellow, brown, and black w/ white stripe and the wires on the tail light are red, black, and white...
So I need to know which wires go to which. |

Re: Wiring lights on CC Precedent
Just a guess yellow=red, black=brown, white=black w/whites stripe
check with ohm meter to confirm. One wire is for brakes, one is lights (compare to headlights) black with white stripe gound. |

Re: Wiring lights on CC Precedent
he has no brakes so should be easy. be sure to use the dimmer light for tail as if you wire the brighter as tail you can burn the lens. if its just head light kit you can use volt meter to findyour + - only two will ohm out or have power depends on what tester you have. are they leds if so the white is ground the black is running and red is brake

Re: Wiring lights on CC Precedent
The center wire on the tailight plug is positive (white on drivers side and yellow on the other) the black with white stripe is negative and the brown is for brake lights when used.
