Default Help with cart purchase

I am going to get a cart today, I have narrowed it down to 2 choices and want to get some opinions. They are a 07 Precedent, and an 05 DS the precedent is retired fleet cart and the DS is maroon and I believe not a fleet cart. The DS has the FNR button not rocker arm, and I dont know which controller because i didnt come across this forum until after I had seen it. I believe the Precedent is the IQ. I have a 14 yo and 11yo who will use the cart also and will eventually jack it up enough to run around the hunting camp. If the price is the same and the batteries on both are 2 years which way would you guys go. I am leaning towards the Precedent because I can regulate the speed until I see how the little fellows treat this thing but any input is appreciated. oh yeah both are 4x12v, so i would like to change that out to get more run time, and as far as batteries go there is a battery shop next to my fire station and they gives us great deals on blemished batteries and i have seen cart batteries in there a couple times a year. Thanx for the great forum I have learned alot just reading over the past two days.

I would go with the DS. They are both shunt carts so that doesn't matter. Precedents I think still had problems in 07. There are a million different after market things for the DS. You didn't say what the prices were. They should be pretty cheap with the 4X12 setups. Those carts usually go for $500-700 less than a 6X8v setup.

All the bugs (except battery setup) in the Precedents were fixed by 07. Don't worry about that. In 2004 they had issues with non-returning pedals, front end bushings, On-Board computers, and the infamous 12V battery setup. The only issue is the 12V battery setup, which was standard for both the DS and Precedent of that year. However, keep in mind that it's about $400 to convert a Precedent to the 6 8Volt setup. Once converted, you must purchase a factory light harness due to the fact that the original wire harness was pre-wired for lights. Once converted, you're no longer pre-wired. If factory lights exist at this point, that's more additional cost. A DS requires nothing more than a few angled pieces of aluminum and a welder. About $30.00 worth of parts. If you don't have access to a welder, you could always bolt them in, although I highly reccomend that you weld them. They're both IQ cars, and they're both excellent machines.

Well, I bought the Precedent...both were 12v carts and the precedent looked alot cleaner and fresher than the DS especially the batteries. I could see water in all the cells on the Precedent on the DS all the cells were wet but there were several cells that I could not see the top of the water, the seats had some mildew and it just looked like it had been used hard. The DS was at an EZ-Go dealer and I could tell he really didn't put much efffort into the used CC carts. I will try and post a pic if I can figure it out. I have removed all the stickers(course name and cart numbe) I am hoping rubbing compound will help with that some. Will auto wax work on the body panels or is there something else that will work better? Thanks for the input I am sure I will need some help getting this thing the way I want it in the future.

Welcome to BGW. The purchase price is nothing compared to all the extras you will be adding. It is an addiction.
