Default 2002 DS cart. Potential project car

Going to look at potential project cart today. From the serial number its a 48v 2002 DS cart. Hopefully its a Series cart. Not sure how old are the batteries, so may uses that in negotiating. The guy is asking 1000.00 it looks to be in good shape, but 8v batteries are like 155.00 each on island. The last time I test a 48v club car it was slower than my 36v ezgo. I am looking to maybe convert this to 72v. But gotta get it cheap. Assuming it needs new batteries, with a good body, what is a reasonable price to pay. and is this a good base model to build from ? It does have a charger also.

thanks for any advise.

In my opinion I agree IF ITS A SERIES CART GO FOR IT. I KNOW I WILL GET ALL KINDS OF FLACK ABOUT HOW GOOD IQ carts are BUT?? In your area I would say that if you can get it for $1000. it should be good deal IF its complete and as I said before "SERIES"
Some years ago I sold my brothers 2000 CC in Honolulu for $2800 to a private party and was told by dealer that it was cheap price then?
Check for frame cracks around seat area and front around front suspension, also check tires for side wall heat cracking as this is common in islands.

Thanks for the advise. There are two on craigslist. I am gonna go look at them this afternoon. I am pretty sure one is a series since the FnR lever is by the knee. Will check on the frame cracks..i can't weld aluminum..well I suck at steel too :-) but I can get it hold.
