I think we are going to need to know what year cart and drive system (DS or IQ etc) and what charger & model?

The charger is a Schauer 48 volt automatic battery charger.
Everywhere i have been reading suggests that you should rewire the regan to the series type should i maybe do that. I noticed the package upgrades on your web site. Thanks for ant help, Brent

I think the only concern would be that the obc controls or provides the negative side of the solenoid activation circuit on that cart. If that is the case you would simply run a new neg wire from the controller B- . You would not be converting from regen 1 but simply eliminating the on board computer.

I'm not 100% sure on this cart so wait for TahoeDawg or other CC experts before you start to tear that obc out of there. He knows more about CC OBCs than anybody else I know !

The early regan carts had some problems... I think they are okay when they are working... google around the site for regan 1 or regen 1 and find some reading. There was some converting of one system to another going on, I remember seeing.

Again TahoeDawg is the CC expert and he can fill in the blanks here later if somebody doesn't do so sooner

To put it plain and simple, the OBC has way too many functions on a Regen or IQ model car to even consider trying to bypass it. If it were a series model car I'd say go for it. The regen or IQ OBC ties into the main wiring harness in so many different locations it'd be too much of a headache to even mess with. The best bet for you is to convert the car to a series car, which isn't too terribly hard. You'll need a controller and another motor. The Potentiometer setup on your vehicle is 100% compatible with a series setup. Send me a PM if you need more information about the conversion. I'd be glad to provide my phone number and give you detailed instructions on how to do it. Another (cheaper) option that you have is to consider this.... The OBC has two functions, controlling the charger, and providing the ground for many different circuits on the vehicle. Why not try this.... Leave the OBC, simply unhook your charger receptacle (Vehicle will still run) and tie the main positive and negative wires from the receptacle directly into the battery pack. OBC will still be hooked up to the wire harness, and you'll be able to use your new charger. The only downside is the fact that the one of the safety features of the OBC will no longer work, it will not keep the car from running while charging. The only problem this may cause is a cord yanked out of a charger, just be careful.
