Re: Power
It really depends on how much you plan on using the radio and lights. If it is going to be driven mostly at night with the radio on full blast then a converter is the way to go. Again, it all depends on the usage, but whatever you do, DO NOT use a common ground for your accessories. Separate neg and pos leads must be run to each item even if you are using a voltage conveter/reducer or you could really mess up your electrical system.

Re: Power
If you get a converter make sure it's a good one out of the gate that can deliver max amps from your pack! Vendors here sell them... a bit more then the cheaper models online but well worth it in the long run

Re: Power
If U use the ground point "-" from battery X and the Hot lead + from the same Battery U get the voltage from that one battery .
However if U use the ground from Batt #1 and the hot from Batt #2 U get the voltage of Batt 1 + the voltage of Batt 2 added together , and so on ...etc. So U will have to run 2 wires and not pick up the ground from another location, but from that battery itself. Clear as mud ? |

Re: Power
I never hook up a radio without a 48 to 12V reducer due to the fact that the yellow "Memory" wire on the radio will constantly draw from whatever battery you hook it up to. This will keep your batteries totally unsynchronized with each other and will end up doing serious damage in no time.
