400 amp continuous solenoid
I have a 2003 CC DS IQ cart. I looking to up grade my solenoid for the heavy duty 400 amp continuous solenoid. I am also putting 500 amp Alltrax controller and 2 gauge cables in my cart. Is there a particular make or model I should go with? I've been checking online and the price varies from around $65.00 to over a $100.00 What would be a good price for a HD solenoid?

Re: 400 amp continuous solenoid
I would say this IF PRICE IS MOST IMPORTANT then the quality of solenoids will be in perportion? Its getting harder and harder to get QUALITY built solenoids in "MY OPINION" and so when I am looking for Quality I look for AMERICAN MADE PARTS ALWAYS? I would look at Curtis Allbright Model SW 180 which was still made in USA last I knew? Many suppliers have switched to cheap price Chinese built parts and I PERSONALLY am not finding any quality so far???

Re: 400 amp continuous solenoid
Thanks Old Mec for the info. I don't mind paying as long as I'm getting a good quality product. I've seen some solenoids that looks the same but priced a good bit different. I figured the guys here on BGW would point me in the right direction. Thanks again, Greg

Re: 400 amp continuous solenoid
There are other forum sponsors that have HD Chinese solenoids they say are doing well, but I for one dont recommend anything until I have found it personally reliable, so time will tell? Through the years I have found the Curtis Allbright units very reliable and even have replaceable contact points in many cases as well as some even have larger contacts available.

Re: 400 amp continuous solenoid
Go with a MZJ-400 I have this one and it's huge, running with a DCX500 and 2ga wiring... I got mine from evdrives.com, but I know some of our sponsors can get them. You'll also need the correct resistor (470ohm) and diode (3Amp). I've also installed these on three other carts for my customers.

Thanks Cheepjeep2 for the info. I'll check it out. Evdrives ship pretty fast, I've ordered from them before. Thanks again, Greg
