It's okay to run 12v from 2 6v batteries once in a while. If you consistantly draw the 2 6v batteries down even slightly lower than the rest of the pack they will take longer to recharge and the charger will be overcharging the good batts while waiting for the weak ones to come up... repeat this a hundred times and you will shorten the lifespan of the whole pack..... which is why it is better to use a DC to DC reducer.

6volt trogan,,, in south florida u can always find deals just gotta search. Some auto parts stores also carry 6 volt batts at decent prices especially if u have accounts with them(mechanic) Re aciding batterys is also an option and acid is cheep. BE CAREFULL AND DISCARD USED ACID PROPERLY!!!!!

Would you mind elaborating on this?

I always thought that's what those "secret" instructions were that people were selling on FleaBay were about, but it turns out they were talking about epsom salts. The notion of dumping salt of any kind into my batteries just makes me cringe!

Ive had a lot of good luck with dumping the old acid out,, using bakeing soda to clean and nutralize the acid cleaning again than adding new battery acid bought at my local AZ auto parts store. ive been using the same old trojan batteries for about 4 years now! If u are going to do this PLEASE be carefull and PLEASE dispose of old acid properly!!!

^ Dont the trojans have a 5 year warranty anyway? I thought batteries would last 4+ years anyway without having to do any of this?
