Need Help Selecting Cart

Hello - I am new here! I am in the market to purchase a cart and I was wondering if some of the members might help me please.

I want a 4 seat cart for riding the hood, fishing on golf course ponds and golfing.

I have some down to 2 carts -

A gold standard Club Car Precedent or a new EX Go - not the the ac model - and I am sorry I do not have the model number.

So I am confused over 36 volt vs. 48 volt - all dealers say there is not a difference.

What are some of the main differences between CC and EZ Go besides the CC Aluminium frame?

What is a better cart? Long term what is better for modification?

I like the style of the precedent. It seems more - say refined...

I like the fact that the EZ GO can mount a radio in the dash and on the CC you have to pyt it up top. I also like the factory back seat kit on the EZ Go and how it can create a storage area.

I don't like how you have to mount a radio in a consol at the roofline in an CC - this just seems like a problem waiting to happen - with all that shaking and rattling.

If you are going to putt around either will do. But you ask which is better for modifications? What mods do you want to do? Alum frame? A steel frame is stronger and with proper maintenance will hold up as well as alum.
48v vs 36v. Ezgo went to 48v on their new AC carts for some reason.

Well for mods - the four seats (which will be on when I purchase), others - stereo with xm radio, perhaps a higher speed motor - would like it to go about 25 mph, perhaps solar recharge, so I wonder why CC focuses on the Aluminium frame - perhaps the weight savings.

Another question - which brand has a better ride/suspension and does putting low profile tires on the car effect the ride?

You do kow this is a loaded question? Kinda like the chevy/ford/dodge debate....anyways. I have several carts, a yamaha, club car and several e-z-go's and IMO the club car rides alot better than the rest. The yamaha is new and rides like a buck board...the e-z-go's are not much better.

A steel frame.....well.....being stronger is not absolutely true. There is no evidence to support that. The last steel frame cart I had I had to section out the frame and weld in a new piece. It was a 95 model ezgo. My 88 club car has an aluminum frame and it will not rust. Aluminum frames require a little more maintinance if you want them to stay clean. (acid wash) There is a little weight savings with aluminum frames...not sure how much.

Thanks Roady89 - I was thinking exactly that - Ford/Chevy thing. I am just very confused on which way is the best way to go - dealers say no difference in 36 volt and 48 volt - so why can you convert 36 volt carts to 48 volts? I don't understand?

Anyway - I appreciate your comments on the ride of the various carts.

They are talking about stock carts...the performance is "about" the same "stock" between 36 and 48. 48 volts will be more efficiant. If you were to upgrade a 36 volt cart to 48 volts....a 36 volt motor on 48 volts will produce about 20-25% more power.

Here is where I think they are BS ing U. Like saying no difference in the gasoline engines...V6 or V8...they are not the same either. Take em out and drive uphill see what you think...

So is it better to start out with an EZ-GO 36 volt and upgrade to 48 volt or start out with a CC 48 volt? I would assume that the 36 to 48 volt conversion would require new batteries.

Additionally I understand that the Club Cars have the "computer controller" in the car - making upgrades more expensive and that the EZ-GO has the "computer controller" in the charger?

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I wouldn't say its better. They both have their pro's and con's...If your buying a new cart I would go with the 48 volt cart. I just wouldn't buy new then spend more money converting it.

Thanks Roady - so based on that assumption - to the best of my knowledge only Club Car makes 48 volt carts?
