Powerdrive charger plug swap ?
I just finished changing the 36v to a 48v and I picked up a 48v powerdrive charger very cheap, BUT the plug on the cart side is a three prong and my cart is/was a 36v with a crowsfoot end (2 prong). can I replace simply by swapping plug ends or will it start a meltdown ? Thanks in advance Mike
Part two, Has anyone ever experienced the + terminal on the end of the series completely melting down ? How was the problem corrected ? |

Re: Powerdrive charger plug swap ?
The 48V PowerDrive charger will only work with factory 48V carts with the OBC (On Board Computer)... The charger is controlled by the OBC installed in the cart thru the third contact in the plug.. Unless your cart has an OBC installed, the charger won't work.. You would be better off getting an aftermarket 48V "stand-alone" automatic charger..

Re: Powerdrive charger plug swap ?
Melted battery terminals are caused by loose connections. Loose connections will heat up under load until the terminal melts.

Re: Powerdrive charger plug swap ?
I just saw a new product that relates to this .... it is an obc eliminator ... little box mounts into a CC cart and has a timer for the charger and eliminates the OBC duties....I have not used one ~ just saw it in a catalog
