Default Re: U.S Batterys issue...smell?

New batteries or severely depleted batteries can take 8-12 hours to charge.
The amp reading window will start going down , just keep an eye on the readings if U'r worried .

Batteries do not technically "boil" and the correct term is "gassing". If this gassing does not occur during a recharge cycle and very agressive right at the end then you will shorten their life by years. This is the required "equalizing" phase of the recharging process. If you do not smell them in a closed building like you did then one has a nose or charger problem. :)
Thanks. It should have read 48v and NOT 36v. Rule of thumb charging should not be much over 2.5v per cell for flooded lead acid batteries and then only near the end of the recharging cycle.
