Charging problem 85 Club car 36 v
Hi all I am new to the site and am in need of some advice on a 1985 36 volt club car
Batteries were replaced and charger seems to be working but only three batteries are charging The batteries on the drivers side are bubbling and are taking a charge and the three on the left are not charging the 3 that are; are working to go forward but the other 3 for the reverse are dead have tested them with voltage tester and hydro test So my question is why will only 3 charge and 3 will not even charge or bubble is there something i am missing in the charging system does the F&R work as a resister on this All batteries are new and car was working but it was slow forward and fast going backwards If I switch the cables to run it, it would go fast forward and slower backwards but I guess the problem now is the left side batteries not charging Any suggestions or input will be greatly appreciated |

Re: Charging problem 85 Club car 36 v
On an 85 CC you have positive and negative charger wires coming from the charger receptacle to the batteries. It is clear you have these connected wrong. Get a volt meter and check this out, the charger should connect to 36v not 18v as it is now. You will damage the batteries charging this way.
The other problem can be easily corrected by simply taking the Green cable that comes from the bottom of the F&R and looping it back to the F&R at the bottom where the red cable connects next to it.... But first and most importantly get the charge wires on the right terminals. Every electric cart owner should have a voltmeter. |

Thanks the better the detail the better !!!
Do U have a volt meter (digital preference) $20 at Lowes . Even If U dont need it for this , with a electric cart U will eventually need it. |

Give us more info if you want help. What all is connected at the bottom of the F&R ?
You have 2 different speeds in forward and reverse so you must have 2 different power supplies. Regardless of cable color? |
