Default Club Car DS 97 going uphill belt slipping?

I bought a club car and new it wasn't perfect but after running a while when I go uphill it slows to a craw but feels like a belt slipping. I can stop and ease the accelerator and crawl up. If I floor it it starts that slipping feeling every time. What is going on? Help. I am in the beginning stage of getting this cart fixed up. Batteries are 2 years old I'm sure they have not been cared for properly but this seems like something slipping. Thanks in advance!

I know it doesn't have a belt. That is just what it feels like. Is the motor going bad? What would be the cause of this? I'm a rookie so this is the beginning for me. That is why I joined this site so I can get help. Any help would be appreciated.

First off, Welcome to BGW.

2nd, need to start with some base information, charge your batteries, top them off with water, let sit and check the pack volts, individual battery voltage, post here so we can make some educated suggestions.
Clean and check ALL of your cable connections and cable ends for corrosion.

Thanks Crash! I hate feeling like an idiot because I'm not much of a doit yourself guy but I'm determined to do this cart myself. I will go get a battery tester and do what you said and post results. Thanks again and talk back soon.

What he said. Batteries can take 12-14 hours to complete a charge. then let them set a few hours and take a reading across rhe entire pack .

Ok, another dumb question! I went to Advanced auto parts and asked for a battery tester for 8V batteries. After they looked at me like an alien I said they are golf cart batteries. They never heard of 8V batteries. Now that I have established the fact that Advanced will not be a source of help for me where do I get one and what kind do I need? Thanks again in advance! My learning curve is pretty much a verticle line at this point.

Have you checked that a hub is not slipping?

There are 2 kinds of battery test.
1. Is for Voltage , this is done with a variable setting Volt meter.
this can measure from a fraction of a volt , up to hundreds of Volts.
Digital read outs are best for golf cart work.

This is one I have , Harbor Freight, Northern Tools, also has good deals.
2. The other is a battery Hydrometer ,
this is used too check the charge potential of the chemical mix in the battery cells.

This is one advance auto carries and is really inexpensive.
