New Batteries Question
Hello, well I was planning on upgrading to 48v this summer but have ran into a problem, one of my old batteries died. So my question is if i was to buy a new battery now would it still be okay to use whenever I upgrade my cart to 48 volts? Thanks in advance.

Re: New Batteries Question
the problem with mixing old and new batteries in a pack is that their recharging needs are very different.
THe old batteries will have the charger over charging the new battery until it is diminished to the level of the old batteries ... how long this takes depends upon how often you recharge and how depleted your old batteries are...best if you can find a used battery Hope this helps. |

Re: New Batteries Question
Thanks for the reply Scotty. Yes I was thinking something to that nature would happen. thats why I had to get that bad battery out. It was boiling the others. I tried to find refurbished one at the two Interstate batteries near my house but they dont have any at the moment. Thanks for the help though.. I will see what I can come across.

Re: New Batteries Question
I was checking prices on Ebay a day or two ago and they had some listed by brand and date stamp but that does not tell you if tested they would spec out about the same as your other used ones.
Check the specific gravity of all cells and note them out to 1.xxx. Often a bank will start dying quickly after one goes due to over charging like you reported. While I do not sell hardware for upgrades I may be wrong but I really can not see dumping money into building a 'nitro' car and then burn regular unleaded gas. :) Upgrades need juice and they need it to flow fast. I expect if your first upgrade is new batteries and cables you will like the future upgrades better or just go with all the upgrades up front for the most kick. |

Re: New Batteries Question
Thanks I will look on ebay. Also gonna give a dealer a call tomorrow since he has a surplus of golf carts i figure he has some batteries that I could get that would work for now til I get enough for all of them. But yes Im hoping once I go 48v on 36v CC motor with a 480 amp controller it will be all I need. Once I recoop from buying batteries I will be callin PQ up though. So the upgrades just keep coming.
