Rotate Batteries?
While charging, I've noticed the batteries closest to the positive side of the pack are always at a higher voltage. Now, during the tail end of the charge, the rest of the batteries level off and become the same, but should the batteries in the pack be rotated periodically to ensure a longer life?

Re: Rotate Batteries?
the first battery for some reason , seems to always be the first to go,
but the others are generally not far behind, so I would say yes it would help some and at +$600 a POP, I'll take all the help I can get |

Re: Rotate Batteries?
I feel that the only time batterys need to be rotated ( besides being a real pain to do ) would be when you are tapping off "part of the pack" for accessories ( lights, winch, etc ) if a 12 volt reducer is used from full pack 36-48V there should be no problem?
I find that the #5 and #6 ( under drivers side ) batterys seem to go bad first in Club Car but once charger is done and pack has been allowed to balance out the voltage and specific gravity are all the same on a good condition pack. On EZGO and Yamaha I find that the #1 and #2 batterys ( next to solenoid ) seem to go first? ANSWERS I sure dont know why? |

Re: Rotate Batteries?
In a series battery system there is no advantage to rotating batteries.
Because of the internal resistance in the battery, the weakest batteries will always show the highest voltage while charging and the lowest voltage at rest. |

Re: Rotate Batteries?
I figured there was no good reason to rotate since they all level out to the same, but wanted to check. I don't have any accessories on now, but want to get some lights on. Will probably go with a converter when I do that.

Re: Rotate Batteries?
I believe yours is a 36v cart, you don't need a converter for lights, just use 2 of the 6v batteries in series.

Re: Rotate Batteries?
Yes, it is a 36v. I was just thinking better for the batteries to go across the entire pack?

Re: Rotate Batteries?
For a small amount of power like lights it makes almost no difference.

Re: Rotate Batteries?
Ok. That definitely makes it easier. And cheaper. Would a radio make more of a difference?

Re: Rotate Batteries?
a little but,
then U can just move the redio connectors from battery to battery from #3 to #6 since 1 and 2 are always stressed anyway. |
