Default full throttle

I have an 87 electric club car recently given to me.
With the ignition switch on or off when I put it in either forward or reverse it is at full throttle without any pressure on pedal.
The F/R switch shorted and burned up and I replaced it with a new one but now have this problem.
It is a 36v with the electronic speed switch (pre V-glide I take it)

On a cart that old it could have almost anything for controls. Does it have a bank of resistors with 4-5 solenoids behind battery pack? ( CHECK STICKIES under "Electric Club Car wiring diagrams" at bottom shows Electric CC solenoid wiring ) That would be stock set up with plastic box connected to throttle linkage under drivers seat with 4-5 micro switches inside? If not can you take pictures so forum can see what you have? Replacement F&R switches are some times wired different from stock so if this was only thing replaced before problem started your wiring may be wrong?
Compare you wiring with STICKIES under 81-85 Electric CC wiring diagram.

Here are photos of my cc
It has 5 solenoids
I'm having difficulty trying to compare my wiring with STICKES 81-85 Electric CC wiring diagram. The wiring coming from the "speed controller?" box doesn't seem to fit.

I have seen a lot of carts ......... I have never seen one like that. You have the 5 solenoid throttle box of 5 microswitches but, you have resistor coils of the later V-glide carts. ??? it is half and half. Pic a system and go with it.

Scotty the few i have had also had the coils and solenoids? If it is full throttle With the key on or off something is activating the primary and the last speed solenoid. Check your key wiring and make sure its correct. In the little silver box that you throttle rod hooks to there is 5 micro switches. I have seen them go bad but not sure if they could go bad closed. Also it is a good possibility that the solenoid in the bank for WOT is stuck shut?

Thanks Kidder, what you are saying makes sense to me. I was particularly careful when I replaced the F/R switch to mark the wires and diagram what it was before I replaced it. However, I'm wondering if I have a wire wrong. I have not been able to find a wiring diagram for the way my CC is manufactured. Pardon my ignorance but what does the WOT mean that you speak of?

Wot= wide open throttle
What is the serial # of this cart? ???

OH ~ I get it the solenoids are hidden underneath the coils and you just can't see them ...... LOL
Your master solenoid is welded shut. Closest to the Drivers side for starters.

Serial number is A8727121493
As I understand it, in 1987 CC was going thru major design changes and apparently it was done in a transition mode not a clean stop of the old and start with the new. My cart seems weird to me from what information I gather.
Thanks for the idea of the master solenoid welded shut. I'll check that out.
I sure would like to get a wiring diagram for this exact model. If you have any suggestions where I can get one, I'd appreciate that.

To get full throttle with key on and in either forward or reverse you may have ( TWO ) solenoids stuck in closed postion or wired incorrectly. I cant tell for sure from pictures but do you have all 5 solenoids hooked up to small guage wiring? Some times to save money people will bypass or remove #1 ( master solenoid ) allowing power to be constant in buss bar to rest of solenoids, so if one of those sticks shut you will have problem like you have? To find each solenoid check following MASTER #1 solenoid ( nearest drivers side ) #2 low speed, #3 second speed, #4 3rd speed, #5 HIGH SPEED on passenger side ( this one by passes all resistor coils ). To trace the flow of power its as follows--#1- key on, #2-F&R in forward, #3-micro on back of F&R sends power to #4-speed control box ( silver or white colored box with red end cover ) speed control when pedal first depressed sends power to #5- MASTER solenoid ( nearest drivers side ) #6-this gives power to buss ( flat metal plate ) bar running to rest of solenoids, #7-then as pedal is depressed each micro inside speed control box sends closing power to each solenoid in turn as pedal is depressed to solenoids starting with #2 from drivers side to passenger side ( #2-#3-#4-#5 )
Hope this helps you in understand wiring diagram and find solution to your problem?

The wiring diagram in STICKIES is a factory diagram so its correct as far as stock factory deliverd CC goes.
