HEAT IS CAUSED BY RESISTANCE so have you replaced the F&R control unit? I am assuming from your post you have a F&R lever under your right leg rather than a F&R rocker type switch in same location? If so have you done any updates on cart like motor, controller, large diameter tires, etc OR are your stock 6 gauge multi stranded ( not auto cables ) cables corroded or loose at connections? All will put extra load on F&R control and can causing heat build up and damage to contacts inside, requiring minimum 4 guage cables throughout, HD F&R control, possibly a higher amp controller.
