Default Scratching my head!

I have a 91 CCDS resistor cart with headlights and brakeing tail lights. You may have seen my other thread on this cart for my son. Anyway, one of the rear lights expired so I replaced with the identical bulb, it has both filaments for running and brakeing. The running lights on the side replaced worked as did the brake lights, however, now the other side stopped working. So I put a new light in the other side. Guess what, now the other side stopped working? New bulbs, but won't light simultaneously, running or brakeing. WTF, I know short...right, but what kind of short allows both sides to work independantly?

It's a weak ground. Take the lights out and look at the bolt where the wires ground to them. It's probably rusty. The best way to fix it is to drill a new hole and install a new ground screw with new terminals on the end of the wires. It's a VERY common problem.

Thanks, I will give it a shot and yes I remember the long a$$ bolt was rusty, as was the jam nut and nut on top.
