Default AHHHHH, these shock bushings!!!!!!

Can anyone please make a suggestion for me. I've removed the front shocks on my club car and i'm attempting to replace the bushings. The old rubber came out fine after i drilled them out releasing the bolt sleeve, but getting the new bushing and sleeve back into the shock is impossible. I don't have access to a press and I'm pulling my hair out. So far I have tried brute force and a hammer. I have tried the vice clamp on my bench and a socket to push the bushing in. No go! Any ideas would be great.

Thanks

I was a little worried about using those products. I thought they might break down the rubber over time. I did coat them pretty good with some vasoline though. Still no luck.

-use silicone grease
-bevel the edge with sand paper
-clean the shock opening, remove any burs, apply silicon grease
-freeze the bushings

Where did you get these bushing? Are you sure they are not leaf spring bushings?

I did set about 6 months ago , and getting the old off was the rough part
the new ones slid right in place .

I'll double check the invoice, but they came packaged with the necessary hardware which I would think is different from that of the leaf spring bushings.

Gleemo: I can press the bushings into the shock easy enough. However if I put the bolt sleeve back into the bushing first it will not fit back into the shock.
