Default new batteries, no movement

have 1996 electric club car. Just replaced batteries. Cart does nothing. All the conections are correct and are brand new cables. Selnoid clicks. Tried jumping the yellow wire from the speed contol to selnoid still nothing. I'm lost. Any ideas?

Was cart running before battery changes, as often owners replace batterys when not needed? Do you have a digital volt meter ( Harbor Freight $4-$8 ) as any electric cart owner needs one to do simple tests? Did you charge batterys after installation? Voltage should be either 38.22 for 36 volt pack ( "PACK" is total batterys in series 36 volt pack, 48 volt pack ), or 50.96 for 48 volt pack. Dont assume batterys are charged just because they are new, besides charging before use is very important to life of batterys, along with proper break in procedure. Often its improper connecting of battery cables that can be problem. We have all hooked batterys wrong at one time or another. Batterys must be hooked in series to get needed voltage.

scott go over everything again..............have you tried charging them and does charger come on? on a 96 if its non a reagan cart you can connect a jumper wire from the small post on soleniod where the yellow wire is bolted over to the neg, of #6 battery and see if cart runs........post results........

charged batteries until charger went off. I did run a jumper from the yellow soleniod to the negative #6. Got nothing. Cart was not running before I changed batteries

Just because a solenoid clicks does not mean it is working. It is activating but could still be failing. Check for pack voltage going in one side and out the other on the large terminals when it clicks...

old batteries were 7 years old and junk. 4 out of the 6 read 0 voltage. Charger wouldn't even go on. Not sure on the color of control....one thing did seem weird when I charged the new batteries, I was messing with cables unhooking and rehooking, thinking maybe had bad conection. None of the posts would spark from putting the cables on and off....I'm thinking there should be some what of a spark from them?

if all cables are hooked right sometimes you don,t get any kind of spark thats a good thing its when you do get sparking that should be a concern...........
