Forbruce These are great Ideas !! your picking up where I left off, you are the official go to man for speed sensors.

I think the fuse is a great Idea maybe inline so you don't have to through the whole thing away if the fuse blows. the size I need to think about it will be small .25 maybe smaller if your unit is accessible hook up you meter to it and measure the current.

The switch just leave it the same and get an on - off - on switch center position off. no need to mix power and signal on the switch.

I will note this on the schematic

GAMIDE
your schematic shows the fuse in the wrong position. If the voltage regulator should blow the fuse; the cart will not work in the normal mode...in essence you will create the effect of a defective speed sensor because the whole circuit shuts down regardless of switch position. This is the reason i inserted the fuse in only the new circuit.

yes i think 1/4 amp would be just right.

Normally i would not want to place supply voltage and signal in the same switch cause of possible inductive pickup. BUT...the cableing running from the speed sensor to the controller has the wires very close side by side in a plastic jacket that PROMOTES the transformia effect.... but no problems arise. THEREFORE i am going to keep the dpdt switch.
