Default replacing Micro switches in the speed control box

Hello all!

First post. I have been reading pages and pages of info for a while and gaining a tons of info. For that I thank all that contribute here!!!!!

I have been searching for answers to my question for a couple of days now and I cant seem to locate what i am looking for.

A 1987 36v Club Car just came into my possession. It ran fine last year before I got it and this year not so much. Through many hours of research on this site I am pretty sure I have narrowed it down to a solenoid problem. I have decided to change out all 5 and while I am at it, all of the micro switches in the potbox. For the life of me I can not find any info on the procedure for doing the micro switch change out. Could some one point me to the correct info and maybe a pic or two of the procedure. The cart is a half hour away from me and I want to have all I need before I tear into this. I am sure it is something simple holding the switches in the housing.

thanks in advance!!
Carl

Take the last - NEG battery cable off the post for last battery in the pack.
Remove the screw holding switch , remove/slid-off wire connectors.
Place wires on new switch.
re-insert screw.
Connect the -NEG

Before you try it make sure you have a new #4x40 - 3" screw and two corresponding nuts. The old screw will more than likely twist into. They are hard to find. I needed one a few weeks ago and wound up buying 25 screws and 100 nuts cheaper than buying a single one from a golf cart parts supplier. I found mine at McMaster - Carr on the net. Had them in 3 days - $15+. Don't know if my old '86 will ever use all of them at 1 every 25 years....

Bring every tool you have

I guess I would bring a 1/4 & 3/8 drive set and the new screws is a great suggestion. A handful of wire connectors and related tools & my trusty 10 in 1 Klein screw driver The micros are in a box with a small bolt going thru them when they come out it is in a handful. Keep the order straight and note the position of the slider ( actuator )

Thanks all!

I figured that screw went through all the switches. Hard to tell hanging up side down with my head in the battery compartment. luckily I had sprayed that nut with penetrating oil last week and it turned off like a charm today. i did not take it all the way off because i did not have time.
