Default Used 12v Batteries vs New 8 volt batteries

I am looking at buying a used 2007 Club Car that has four 12 volt batteries that are no younger than 2007 models. I know absolutely nothing about the condition or maintenance of the batteries as the dealer is just buying a "load" of used carts next week.

Should I just use the 2007 batteries as long as they will last or should I go ahead and spend the extra $500 to get 6 brand new Trojan 8 volt batteries installed now?

I will be getting the cart lifted with at least 22 inch tires and a flip flop rear seat installed. We will be using the cart in our paved neighborhood, but also for turkey hunting.

Thanks,
Thomas

If the dealer will convert the battery tray and sell you 6 fresh Trojan T-105's for $500, do not walk, RUN to this dealer and make the deal.

As a DIY golf cart "hobbyist" with less than 100 posts I am in no position to correct gornoman, but just to prevent confusion the 8-V Trojan batteries are T860, T875 and T890. The T105 is Trojan's 6 volter.

The best price I could ever get on the 6-8v T875s was about $625.

Ooops, my bad. But, the statement stands corrected to 6-8v new Trojans.

The conversion to 6 - 8 volts is the way to go, and the conversion has come way down on the early models.

The 6 volt batterys will give you more run time. We had a customer that just would not buy 6 volt batterys and he wanted the 3 - 12volts that came in the cart and his run time is not very long? JMO
