Default DS Will Not Charge

DS
A9532 - 451705
48 volt system - Power Drive Charger

Helping a friend try to fix his cart. Batteries are low, got them charged up some so the charger would kick on however, charger does nothing. Check voltage at the recepticle and has 46.58 volts.

Checked the fuse on the small grey wire out of the recepticale going to the on board computer (I think that is where it goes) and it is good.

I need to know what to check next to determine the cause of not charging. Cart is on jack stands and will move in forward & reverse but is very weak because the batteries need some JUICE in them.

Is there a fuse going to the on board computer that I need to check besides the small grey fuse at the receptical?

Thanks in advance for your help.

if the charger isn,t working with 45 volts in it it could be the OBC went bad...most cases the cart won,t run but i have seen several 95,s with a bad OBC where the cart did still run just wouldn,t charge........you can bypass the low voltage sensor in the charger to see if it will turn on if so replace OBC.................................

Disconnect charger from cart and house current. Remove cover. Locate the black 1.5 inch square relay with 2 black wires going to it disconnect both wire and connect them together in a secure and insulated manner... replace cover. plug into cart and house current, charger should be on, now.... It will not shut off when jumpered like this ... likely your obc is bad ... see test below:

OBC bypass & Test =
The black wire coming out of charge receptacle has a yellow fuse holder, open it up and connect a jumper from the end coming out of receptacle to the negative on Battery 6 or the last one in series. Plug in the charger if it comes on your OBC is most likely TOAST.

Scotty

I bypassed the relay in the charger, it came on, plugged into the cart and did not show any current through the amp meter. I put the charger on an 07 48 volt precident and the charger showed current and charged.

I did not do the second test you recommended because I was unsure after the first results.

Will wait to hear from you guys and then will take the next step. Just hate to say it is the OBC without making sure.

Has 46.5 volt at the receptical without the charger being plugged in.

Do I need to disconnect the small grey wire out of the receptical when doing the first method of troubleshooting? If so, I did not do that.

The voltage at the plug of the charger with the relay bypassed was 61.75 volts.

Thanks in advance for the help

Plug it in and check the voltage every half then hourly. wait for the pack to reach about 63v, let the pack sit undisturbed for 12 hours and let us know what the pack reads 12 hours after the charge ends ....
