Plum Motor question
So Ive had a purple motor in the garage for over a year......I know!!!! Just installed it...I love the torque!
Heres my question......when I changed the motor I also changed out the wires to #2 from the stock wires. With my old motor I ran 19mph and with the purple I only hit 16mph. The first run was directly before installing the motor and wires. Everything is tight.....is this normal? I realize #2 wires are overkill but also know it SHOULDNT effect the performance. Again.....big increase in torque and am overall pleased because I need torque more then speed. Any input, comments, etc. Thanks!!!!! |

If yes then GPS the PW, slide the old motor in and GPS again THEN I'm sure I'm not telling U anything new , PQ is one of the most responsive Supporters on here . Call Robbie and tell him what U have and what happened. If they can't figure it out then post back here |

Re: Plum Motor question
Well it sounds like either it was at one time a 36 Volt cart or someone swapped the motor out for more speed.
That is what a lot of people do with their 36 Volt systems , upgrade everything but the motor and the added voltage causes the 36 Volt motor to turn into 1 Bad dude ! It won't last as long but will probably last for several years U have a keeper there , now decide what to do with the PQ . |

Re: Plum Motor question
The speed was there but the torque sucked with that motor. The cart is a 48V cart per the serial #. Dang, this stuff always happens to me.
How can I keep the torque and gain speed now? Controller? I dont know much about this stuff.....just budget building for fun! |

Re: Plum Motor question
well controller would do it , I also know PQ makes a 2 speed motor, the lower setting is for torque (I think).
Call Robbie at PQ explained what U have found out and see what they recommend !! |
