Default Rear leaf spring issue

Just wanted to share this info.

I have an '07 DS that I had a Jakes 6" spindle kit put on when I bought the cart last October. I started noticing a strange sound in the rear end last weekend and even took a quick glance under the cart to see. Well, I asked my wife if she heard the noise yesterday and she looked under and guess what she found(yeah, I am aware that my man card is in trouble for my wife finding the problem)...

the small bottom leaf of the heavy duty springs put on was out of alignment on the passenger side of the cart. It was rubbing against the tire. It made a pretty good groove in the rubber, too.

So, check your springs to make sure they are where they are supposed to be!!!

As a side question in reference to this problem, all I did was align the leafs and tighten the crap out of the U-bolts. Is this all that is needed? Or is there something else I need to do? Also, is there a reccomendation for something to retain the springs in their proper alignment?

Thanks,
Rod

Kinda sounds like maybe you did not tighten them enough to begin with, take it for several rides and check to see if anything has moved, sounds like the problem should be good to go. Ummm we won't mention the man card

Looks like I have another issue!!!

I kept hearing a noise even after the leaf spring. This noise was coming from the front end. I especially heard it when backing the cart out of the garage, but have really noticed popping/cracking noises even after making sure I had tightened everything up(I thought some of the noises were typical flexing and not a problem before).

Well, I think I found this problem. I have a 6" Jakes spindle kit, and apparently, there is supposed to be a bushing on each end of the front spring. The left end has a bushing and the right does not. I will have to get ahold of the dealer I got my cart from to correct this issue. Needless to say, I am a little perturbed that I am having this many issues with my cart.

i don,t blame you, as for the springs maybe you can make some sort of strap you can wrap around them to keep them from moving, i know some trucks have a strap type bracket on the springs so i don,t see why you couldn,t do it on a cart.............................
