Another 48V Charging Problem
Have read other threads on this subject but did not find answer to my problem.
97 48V DS, two different chargers that work on other 48v carts. Battery Pack voltage 49V Charger will turn off after a couple of minutes. Reset OBC, charger worked for about 1/2 hour and turned off again. Reset OBC again, Charger turns off in two minutes. If I bypass the OBC will that make a difference or is the OBC Toast? |

Re: Another 48V Charging Problem
TWO QUESTIONS #1 has anything been done to cart electrical system just before this problem came up? #2 Have you checked "condition of batterys" as you could have some weak cells that can fool OBC into only surface charging ( short cycling )? If you bypass the OBC and charger stays on you will confirm that OBC is bad and needs replacing.

Re: Another 48V Charging Problem
To the best of my knowledge, nothing was done to the Electrical System, the cart is new to me and has NOT been maintained.
I did use a Hydrometer on the pack and did not find any bad cells. I was unsure if bypassing the OBC would prove anything. Thanks, I will try the bypass and report back |

Re: Another 48V Charging Problem
Its a 97, just get rid of that OBC and get the field update kit.

Re: Another 48V Charging Problem
All Batteries are at 55 % charge. Specific gravity on all cells range from 1195 to 1210.
Have bypassed the OBC and charging right now. Will charge for 2 hours and recheck. |

Re: Another 48V Charging Problem
After 1 1/2 hrs the Batteries are at 8.44 with a pack at 50.4.
Tried using the Charger without bypassing the OBC and the charger turned off after 3 minutes. Does this mean the OBC is bad and needs replacing? or are there alternatives to this? |
