Default Crown Battery build date

I just bought 6 8 volt Crown Batteries, cr165's. I was told they are only 2 months old. How do I tell when they were made? There is no numbers stamped in the posts like my old red tops. Thanks in advance, Kim

Date code on the cover near the positive terminal.
It includes several areas of interest to us, date of manufacture, line it was built on, shift, etc.

It reads across from left to right as follows,

1st digit = Month ( This is distinguished using Letters that refer to month, A = January, B = February, C = March, etc )

2nd & 3Rd digits = Day (01 – 09 = Days 1 – 9, 10 – 31 = Days 10 – 31 )

4th digit = Year

5th Digit = Assembly Line ( 1 – 5, we presently have 5 production lines )

6th Digit = Warranty

7th Digit = Shift

I prefer to see people buy the bigger CR190. I know, it costs more but 165ah battery verses 190ah battery is a noticeable difference in performance. 25ah across 6 batteries is almost like having a 7th battery.

The CR165 are good for trailer park or similar situations. The larger batteries have more amperage storage capacity. They can supply more amperage at WOT than a smaller pack and they can sustain any amount of drain longer than a pack of smaller batteries can... You decide
P.S.
If you use an undersized battery for a particular task like 36 holes of golf repeatedly.... The continuous over taxing or deep discharging of the smaller battery pack will result in a shorter useful life of that battery pack according to Trojan Battery Company.

Trojan battery told me that charging a T-1275 at 16 volts was OK.

What do you think now?

Let see if this works:

If I have 165's and use it for a round of golf a day, am I better off with 190's?
