If you use a 12v charger on the 8v you must use the 2 amp setting and do not bring it up over 9.8 v reading you have. see where it settles from here.
I wish I had read this sooner, I will check voltage after fire dept. leaves

Forgive my weak attempt at humor, I actually guessed you thought it was a 12v battery. The battery is holding at 9.21, up from 9.13. Not great but some improvement. That may be all this 6 year old battery has left in her. Will give it another shot ans see if anything improves.

I am glad common sense prevailed.

Just to close the loop, I was never able to restore the battery. Even with a higher starting voltage it would quickly fail under load.

I spent $50 on a 2.5 year old battery. The pack is running good again. After a 20 mile run yesterday the pack was at 48.9 volts and the batteries all matched between 8.11 and 8.18.

Thanks for the help trying to charge the old battery with a 12 volt charger.
