Re: the day from hell
Wow, that's a day you want to forget but will probably remember. Is it possibly a mid-90's Chevy pickup? My neighbor has one and has gone through 3 fuel pumps in the past year. He and I took our sons and some of their friends camping a couple of months ago. He drove his Chevy and I drove my dodge. We stopped at a store on the way there to grab some food and his truck wouldn't restart. He banged on the fuel pump area with a hammer until it started working again and got it going. We camped for the weekend, about 40 miles from home, and the morning we were leaving, he started his truck up first thing and just let it run for an hour or so while we were packing up. We got about half way up the 2 mile dirt road we were on and it just died. There we were with 2 pickups loaded with gear and 6 adolescent boys hopped up on pepsi and powdered donuts. No way we could get back in one vehicle. I ended up towing him all the way home with a not-so-long tow strap he happened to have. Very illegal and probably not very smart but we made it without getting caught and without him plowing into the back of my truck.
