02 DS IQ Hesitates/Shutters
My thanks to all in this forum. I was able to fix my CC thanks to all the info posted here. This is for anyone t/s a similar problem. My 02 DS IQ started to hesitate or lurch at slow spd in fwd and rev. I was due for new batteries so I replaced them. No help. The next thing I checked was the MCOR and it checked good so I brought my controller to a local shop to test. They put it in a test car and it also checked good. Solenoid was ok so I checked the motor. F1-F2 resistance 1.2ohms which is just fine, then A1-A2 infinite resistance or completely open circuit then if I rotated the wheels the motor turned and I would get varying resistance values .9ohms, 50k ohms, 20k ohms all over the map. I pulled the motor out and brought it to my local shop and the diagnosis was brushes are worn out. While in the motor they also found a bad bearing and replaced it. Now back together and runs smoother than ever. The kids are happy again no more walking to school.

Re: 02 DS IQ Hesitates/Shutters
It is possible that the speed sensor on outboard end of motor could have been effected by worn bearing? I saw this on one IQ cart some time back when a new cart had a defective bearing.

This sounds like the problem I am experiencing on my 2002 IQ cart. I likewise have already replaced the batteries with new Trojans. Still the cart goes slower than usual and hesitates as you describe. If you had it to do over again, would you pull the motor as a next step?

Re: 02 DS IQ Hesitates/Shutters
I would ck the motor out before removing. Lift up the rear of the car and remove the wiring from the motor using a wrench on the lower jamb nuts below the terminal studs. Ck the resistance through F1 F2 should be about 1.2 ohms. Then ck the resistance through A1 A2 a good motor will read about 40 ohms. Also ck for resistance between F1 F2 and A1 A2 should be completely open no shorts between the windings. I found that by spinning the rear wheels the resistance through A1 A2 would go from open to 20K or 40K ohms bad brushes.
