1995 48v Club Car Wont Go
Here's the history. Bought this cart 18 months ago. Ran for about 4 months. Before my daughter ran the batteries all the way down we would sometimes press the pedal and nothing would happen. Press it a few more times, the selinoid would click and everything would be fine. One the batteries ran down to nothing my charger would powerdrive smart charger wouldn't come one. By the way, before the cart died the charger would never go through its diagnositc process when 1st plugged in.. ( amp up, go down to zero, and then go to charging amps).. Anyway, I pulled the cables and charged the batteries one at a time and the cart still would not go. Got frustrated and took it to a cart store. They said I needed to spend $800 on batteries and cables and I said not thanks. Parked it in my barn for about a year and then sold it to a friend with the understanding that if it was anything more than just batteries I would buy it back. He took it to the cart store, they put in new trojan batteries and it still would'nt go. I got the cart back today. I and the cart store suspected the obc at a minimum was a problem. Friend of mine gave me a obc and I installed it this morning. Batteries individually all show over 8volts and as a pack show 51 volts. Charger works again and the lights work. Still no go. I tried jumping the selinoid from at the big and small terminals. Nothing happend. Check power to the f&r switch and i have 51v.. Checked at motor and have 51v. Checked the small negative battery tester cable to small terminals of selinoid and positive to the pack and got around 41v.... Im sure i will need to get new batteries eventually but i would like to rule out other issues before spending the money... Any suggestions??? Thanks..

I was hoping it would be the selinoid... Does the selinoid clicking make the controller go or does the controller make the selinoid click? I got no click right now...

Re: 1995 48v Club Car Wont Go
maybe... i tried to download one on the club car website but they only offered downloads for my charger... suggestions? i did use my volt meter to confirm that once the key is turned on, power is on both terminals of that switch.. i tried to check for power to the microswitches on top of the f&r switch.. the only one with power was the same one that activates the reverse buzzer... key on, key off, gas pedal pressed, forward and reverse, no power to the other contact points. i was checking a website called golf cart catalog.com and found that i can order almost anything i would need.. they even have rebuit controllers for around $200.... am i on the right path? thanks again for the advise... By the way, when my buddy brought the cart back from the cart store, they had already given my off brand cores to the battery guy... the replaced them with trojan 875 cores.. the batteries are a little swollen but after charging a while i get 53volts across the pack.. not sure what they do under a load cause the cart isnt running.. of course, i have another question while im at it... when i replaced the old controller i noticed that at the end of the plastic conduit there was a small gray wire and a larger but still smaller than a battery cable black wire.. they were not connected to anything with the original cart set up.. the new controller had the gray wire with an in line fuse on the end and the black wire as well.. pulled the wiring diagram and found that they are supposed to be connected at the charging terminal.. did so according to the diagram and noted that someone use a small wire to run a black connection on the terminal to another connection at the bottom.. this is not the larger black wire connection i am talking about.. looks like the original owner may bypassed the obc in some way... im guessing that is why the diagnostic funtion on my charger never worked in the past.... also, last question i promise, now that i have possibly correctly installed all the wires for the new obc, i am not able to perform the obc reset as i used to be able to.. after following the steps in a sticky, the reverse buzzer wont go out... thanks a ton... im determined to get the cart running at this point...

I am having the same problem with a 97 club car. Sold the cart, the guy said it drove fine. Then it would only run every 3rd or 4th time you hit the pedal. Now it won't move at all. I think it is in the vglide, but we just replaced the microswitch. I will be watching to see what you find out.

Solenoids can work intermittently before they totally fail.... check the voltage in and out (at the big lugs) if it's clicking but the carts not going. If it's not clicking then test the micros.

Over 50v at the pack... Same on both term of the selinoid... Haven't heard it click since it stopped working a year ago... Can someone point me in the direction for instructions to test the micro switches? thanks...... Not sure if my cart has a v-glide.. If it does, I haven't seen it...
