I bought the conversion kit to switch from 4 12 volts to 6 8 volts and got everything back together with one glitch. When the cart is put in forward the cart goes in reverse and the buzzer comes on. When shifted to reverse the cart goes forward. I went back through the instructions and have everything as it should be. Would a simple fix be to switch the wiring on the F/R switch or have I got something else screwed up? It appears the instructions were printed when the kit first came on the market but their have been several revisions.

I talked to my local Trojan dealer, and he talked me out of buying the 8's. He showed me charts and explained that I would typically only get about 15-20 minutes worth of extra run time with the 8's over the 12's. Not worth the extra money in my book.....

Did he mention the extra 2-3 years?

He didn't specifically mention more years with the 6's. He said it was comparable as long as you took care of the batteries correctly.

Don't shoot the messenger on this one. This is what makes this very difficult for people like me who don't have the experience. We have you and a few others who are knowledgable, and then the battery dealer(who you would like to think is ), and you have differing opinions and can't get an overwhelming piece of proof or statistic to make you feel comfortable with a purchase. Damned if I do, and damned if I don't.......

Could you let us know what model #s and where? I would love to get a set for less then $600, and will be going to Shreveport in a month or so. I am currently looking at $768 for 6 Trojan 8v.

I'm not attempting to shoot the messenger. I'm just letting you know.. Just be extra careful with those 12's with your battery care. They hold 8oz less fluid per cell than the 8Vs, which means they'll show plates sooner between watering.
