Default 1997 Club car forward gear hesitation

I own a 1997 club car 48 volt cart. When I put my cart into the forward position, it is slow/hesitant to re-act to the pedal. I usually have to put the selector switch into the reverse position, depress the pedal, then switch it to the forward position to move. This happens regardless of voltage on batteries. Also, I have to "feather" the pedal to make it grab. If i push heavy on the pedal the cart goes no where. Sometimes when I am driving the power drops out as well but will come back by depressing the pedal a few times. Anyone have any idea's on this?

Thanks in advance,
Scott

I assume from your post that your cart is a Regen 1 ( shunt Motor ) with rocker type switch under right leg? Do you notice the main solenoid clicking more than just when first pushing pedal down? If so it maybe your micro switch inside pedal speed control is not making contact. If your cart is still stock there is one micro inside your pedal speed control under drivers floor ( that is replacable ), or the pedal speed control itself? If you still have the stock black unit that is mounted around the pedal shaft and is no longer in stock at C C, but can be purchased from FORUM SPONSORS. OR BETTER YET update to modern MCOR unit that connects to existing linkage and is mounted under passengers side floor.
This is not to say that many other things can be giving problems ( F&R switch, solenoid, OBC, solid state controller, bad connections ), that will need to be eliminated step by step.

Microswith is definitely a good place to start, most of the experience I have had, that is the case.

In the battery compartment, Under where the driver sits, you will see a black box shaped like a piece of pie. Take the cover off the drivers side of it. Switch is dead center behind wiper.
