Default High speed/torque motor worth it

I am looking to buy a used cart. The cart I am looking at has a 5" lift and 12" tires nothing real aggressive. It comes with the stock motor with the speed code on it. The guy said he would install a two speed high speed/ torque motor for $400. Is there that much difference between the stock motor with codes and the high speed/ torque motor?

Not real sure what brand the new motor is. They just advertise it as a two speed high speed/ torque motor

i would definately get the brand and maybe the part number off of the new motor and ask these guys before buying it. i dont know how new you are to all of this, but i am brand spankin'. the little i do know is that if you go with a bigger motor you also need to upgrade your controller. its another 3-5 hundred. like i said i am totally new to this but these guys will help you for sure. listen to whatever scottyb tells you. he should be chiming in any minute. good luck and post some pics.

Thumbs up Re: High speed/torque motor worth it

Welcome jjwest,
You sure about the 12" tires?

Are do you mean 12" wheels? If it has the speed code then it's going to be for speed and not much torque to speak of. If you can do some wrenching yourself save some money and buy the motor yourself.
Plum Quick is another way to go also. They can rebuild your motor if you take it off and send it to them.
